Marble edging

The natural elegance of this bathing area is largely due to the Botticino Antique marble around the tub and grat edging. Interior design consultants from Two Degrees Interiors selected an antique finish that is more durable than polished finished marble countertop and blends nicely with the natural surroundings. The beauty of countertop edging is that it is a natural product. "Every person who orders it will have a unique material in their space," notes Kathy Babiak.

Carrara cut the stone according to the interior designers' specifications to perfectly match the dimensions of the ceiling detail. The large 1/2 inch thick slabs were assembled on site. "Using larger pieces of stone enabled us to cut around the space and create fewer lines for a very clean symmetrical result," explains Babiak. "We have granite and stone installers with many years of experience at their craft."

She adds that Carrara carries a wide range of materials, including granite, limestone and travertine, both in tile and slab form. Thea solid slabs are ideal for applications such as countertops, vanities, fireplaces and tub surrounds - anywhere that a solid surface is required. Tiles are most often used in front entrances, kitchens, floors, backsplashes and showers.

"We're doing quite a few showers with custom edges," notes Babiak. "You can really create your own character and personalize your space." Besides stone, Carrara offers a wide selection of ceramic and porcelain tiles in various shapes, styles, textures, edges and colours, as well as decorative listellos to inject just the right amount of design and colour into a more neutral décor.

Stone countertops
Natural stone countertops, such as granite, marble and soapstone, are considered to be the height of elegance and will last longer than most kitchens.
